Saturn light 2013
We are used to see a lamp as a light source with a surrounding shading material. When
light hits the shading material we read and understand it. However, when light emits from
inside a shape, the material is seen in contrast to the light and, consequently, we read
it as a "non-material". I find this intriguing and the SATURN light is a product that
displays this notion in a tactile way.
The SATURN project is a result of experiments with LED, different materials and
geometric shapes. There are two ways of using Saturn, as a sculpture leaning against a
wall or as seen below, as a pendant.
